Amazing! Blaine gave us an incredible, in depth tour of the jail and allowed us to stay afterwards to walk around. Since Blaine is the grandson of the owners (purchased in 1995), he knows it ALL! Inc…Full review by RobinMillerCooks

My husband and I visited this place last August. I usually keep a record of places we visit and costs so I can share the information if needed but this time I didn't. So I phoned the Jail and learned they are closed for the Winter season. No information regards to costs on the phone. I therefore contacted the Rotary Club of Jim Thorpe. A fellow by the name of Robert emailed me the costs which are listed below. $10 adults $8 students and Seniors 65+ $5 kids. 6-12 Free under 6 We enjoyed the tour and felt it was worth the money. Also we took the train ride first which was great. Since we parked in that parking lot we decided to walk up to the Jail. You can also drive up if you wish since there seemed to be enough parking on the street. As we walked along there were some interesting stores to go into. One was the Pizza place just up on your left. Pizza was delicious and in the back there is lots of seating. Beverages were cold and they offered beer which was a good treat on a very hot day. Up further was a shoe store where they made shoes from recycled material. Loved that store. Across the street was an Antique store that had some interesting items and owner willing to barter. So you can get a better deal. Robert did mention that this town had Ghosts Walks in the Fall which is something you might be interested plus they have a business right in town that offers white water rafting trips as well as biking trails with a shuttle service. Something for everyone! Enjoy your visit.
I am soooooo disappointed! I work in a jail in NJ and my Husband and I are celebrating our 42nd anniversary in Jim Thorpe (Staying at the Inn) sept 5-6! Just found out you are only open on weekends nowAre we able to still walk around the grounds?

Yes you can walk around the grounds Also the jail is up for sale If you are serious, you might contact them and get a personal tour
We are coming in June... How much time should we plan to visit and tour the jail? How long is the tour itself, and how much else is there to do before/after the tour? Is planning 1 hour enough? Or should I plan that we have 2-3 hours there? Thanks!
