How difficult is to adjust to the altitude? I am 59 years old and i am in adequate shape, but it could be a lot better. I would be having to push my wife in a wheelchair for much of this. At what point, would it be prudent to stop ascending?

Im 42 and went up today with two of my young children. We all did great. Spent about an hour at the top and had no issues at all. I made sure everyone was well hydrated.
