No, the castle is NOT open. Only the grounds, cafe and toilets are open.

Grounds are not huge, there is a nice walk outside of the castle not sure there’s is much for a child to get up to though.

A:
Yes you can. The site is an open one. You cannot go into the castle but you can walk ariund it. You will have to park on the road though. Good luck!

It's free if you are a National Trust Member. The castle will also offer a discount to admission if you travel down there by steam train-just show them your ticket.

As we will have small children (2&4) in tow this time, does anyone know of any other way of getting between these two locations? I don't even remember if taxis are available, it was a long time ago!
