Saint-Vianney is a municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in La Matapédia Regional Council Municipality. It was known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste-Vianney until 1988. The first settlers arrived in 1918. In 1920, several Franco-American families settled in the territory. The Langis mission was founded in 1921. Its name recalls that of the canton of Langis of which Saint-Vianney is a part, named in honor of Louis-Jacques Langis who was parish priest of L'Isle-Verte and canon in the cathedral of Rimouski. The post office was opened on April 12, 1922. The first chapel was inaugurated on December 24, 1922. The municipality was officially founded on August 27, 1926 under the name Saint-Jean-Baptise-Vianney. The first mayor, Oscar Poulin, was elected on October 20, 1926. In 1988, Saint-Jean-Baptiste-Vianney changed its name to the current Saint-Vianney.
