Meta Platforms will end political, election and social issue advertising on its platform in the EU in early October, blaming legal uncertainties due to new EU rules on political advertising, the U.S.

The move comes ahead of new EU regulations on transparency around political advertising, setto come into effect in October.

Meta said political advertising would end in October, citing a forthcoming E.U. regulation that it said presented “unworkable requirements.”
