A massive earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, Russia has triggered a series of tsunami alerts for Hawaii, Alaska, and the U.S. West coast. The earthquake was measured at an 8.7 on the Richter scale according to the U.

Tsunami waves reached Hawaii and the West Coast after one of the strongest earthquakes in recorded history, a magnitude 8.8 temblor, struck off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on July 29 before most of the warnings were downgraded hours later.

A tsunami warning has been issued for Hawaii, where waves set off by an 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Russia’s remote Far East are expected to arrive after 7 p.m. local time.
