Pete Alonso hit a three-run home run, the key hit in a four-run third inning, as the New York Mets finished off a sweep of the Angels with a 6-3 win on Wednesday.

Though the Angels have struggled recently, they still have reason to celebrate. In his last 11 games, outfielder Mike Trout has returned to form a bit at the plate, hitting .271 with five home runs and 14 RBIs. Furthermore, the New Jersey native made history on Wednesday despite the Angels’ loss.

Trout strikes out twice with runners on – including a chance to break the game open in the fifth – and pops out to end the game with the tying run in scoring position, capping a 3-2 defeat.
