Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held bilateral discussions on the margins of the G7 Leaders' Summit

The leaders of India and Canada on Tuesday held their first bilateral meeting since then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi in 2023 of involvement in the killing of a Canadian Sikh separatist.

"Sikh protesters rallied on the streets of Calgary, the closest large city to the summit, as many criticized Carney's inclusion of Modi, who is accustomed to invitations to major international gatherings despite criticism of his Hindu nationalist government's human rights record.
