The Pittsburgh region received a weekend blast of winter weather, including heavy snowfall in many places south of Pittsburgh. KDKA-TV's Chilekasi Adele reports from Washington County.

Pittsburgh city officials say they are fairly proud of the work that has been done to remove snow and clear roads following Saturday evening's snowstorm.

PITTSBURGH — Today will be the best day to do any errands or put up any last-minute decorations. It’s cold this morning, but less wind is expected with temperatures pushing near freezing this afternoon.

It's going to be an active weather weekend with the potential for multiple inches of snow and some very cold temperatures.

The City of Pittsburgh said multiple trucks have been taken in for maintenance, and multiple roads still need to be plowed days following heavy snowfall throughout western Pennsylvania.

Lake-effect snow showers are expected throughout Western Pennsylvania Sunday, said the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, after the winter storm warning expired at 1 p.m. Northwest winds with gusts up to 30 mph will bring on the snow showers,

The National Weather Service said parts of western Pennsylvania could see more than 6 inches of snow this weekend.

Pittsburgh is covered in snow with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 1 PM, causing challenging commutes.

Snow was moving through the Pittsburgh area Saturday night and was expected to continue into early Sunday morning.
