Trump’s DOGE, an advisory body led by Musk, has zeroed in on some agencies as part of its efforts to slash the size of government. The CFPB was the latest to come into Musk’s crosshairs following DOGE’s efforts to fire staff members and stop work at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The order to shutter the agency’s headquarters follows another order issued Saturday by Mr. Vought, who also leads the Office of Management and Budget, telling agency employees to halt nearly all their work.

The Trump administration has ordered the agency, created by Congress and funded by the Federal Reserve, to halt most activity and close its headquarters.
