The Seattle Mariners made Hayden Murphy the fourth pitcher picked from Auburn ’s 2025 team in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft when the American League club selected the right-hander at No. 453 on Monday. Murphy attracted big-league attention even though his 2025 campaign didn’t go as well as hoped.

MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer first reported that Anderson and the Mariners already agreed to a signing bonus in the $8.8 million range, roughly $700,000 below the third overall pick’s assigned slot value. The Mariners entered Sunday’s draft with the second-most total bonus pool money in MLB ($17,074,400), trailing only Baltimore.
