Multiple tornadoes and intense storms hit the eastern half of the United States on Tuesday as a relentless severe weather pattern that left 28 people dead in recent days began to wind down.

A multi-day severe weather event continued on Tuesday as tornado warnings were issued in at least five states.

The National Weather Service provided ratings for several of the reported 16 tornadoes that swept through several counties in western and central Kansas on Sunday.

In the city of Madison, neighborhoods are still making efforts to repair damages caused by the tornado that came through Tuesday night.

Since the tornado, she has been travelling back to the ruins of her home to search for anything that could be salvaged. Among the debris, she was able to recover a few things, including a few of her son's toys, clothes and a safe.
