The NBA announced the finalists for each major award for the 2024-25 season over a month ago, and has slowly been revealing the winners throughout the playoffs. Now, finally, it's time to learn which player has been crowned MVP.
Westbrook entered the NBA in 2008 as the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He has played for the Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Lakers, Clippers and Denver Nuggets.
Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander secured the NBA’s 2024-25 Most Valuable Player award, becoming the third OKC player to win the MVP award.
Gilgeous-Alexander, 26, is the third Thunder player to win the MVP. Kevin Durant took home the honors in 2014 and Russell Westbrook won it in 2017. It's the seventh consecutive season a foreign-born player has won the award, as Gilgeous-Alexander is a native of Canada.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be named NBA MVP, reports ESPN’s Shams Charania. That has been the expected outcome, albeit in a close race, and it will be made official on TNT later tonight.
