According to the coroner, 67-year-old Lemuel Owen Smith was driving without a seatbelt on Calhoun Memorial Highway (Hwy 123) when he was hit by another car pulling out onto the highway.

The coroner’s office identified the driver as 67-year-old Lemuel Owen Smith, of Easley. The passenger of Smith’s vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital.
