NASA's Artemis program aims to return humans to the moon, which is seen as a stepping stone for future missions to Mars.

NASA’s Artemis II astronauts fired their engines and blazed toward the moon Thursday night, breaking free of Earth orbit for the first time since 1972.

Due to launch from 18:24 local time (23:24 BST) from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Artemis II will spend around 10 days travelling around the Moon.
