NHL, Wild and power rankings
Digest more
The 2026-2026 season is through the first eight weeks. The campaign’s infancy stages see team power rankings change from week to week. After eight weeks, the Colorado Avalanche continues to be the league’s most dominant team.
The top of the rankings proved difficult in a different way. Imagine trying to pinpoint just one good thing about the Colorado Avalanche. They haven't lost in regulation since Oct. 25, and they have multiple players up for awards. It's a bountiful feast in Denver.
Vasilevskiy has started three times in Tampa Bay's recent run and has allowed just two goals on 77 shots, a .974 save percentage. The shutout was the 41st of his career and gave him at least one in 12 consecutive NHL seasons.
As a whole, the trend of increased offense in the NHL has continued. Shots are down, goals are up and, as a result, the league average save percentage has dipped below .900 for the first time in 20 years. As the speed and skill of the game continue to increase, we’re having to adjust what constitutes strong goaltending statistics.
