Russia launched a new barrage of drones and missiles in an overnight attack on Ukraine on Saturday, targeting the west of the country and killing at least two people in the city of Chernivtsi on the border with Romania.

As Russia intensifies its air strikes against Ukraine, its tactics have visibly shifted, with a growing number of missile and drone attacks now targeting western regions once considered relatively safe.

NATO was forced to scramble fighter jets as between 20 and 30 missiles and up to 700 military drones were unleashed in Chernivtsi, close to the Romanian border.
