A federal trial over what steps Google needs to take to remedy its internet search monopoly opened in Washington.

A trial of internet giant Google opened in Washington on Monday with the Justice Department asking for the company to be forced to sell its Chrome browser to break up Google's monopoly on online searches.

After a federal judge ruled that Google had a monopoly on the search market, the tech giant and the government are in court to debate penalties. One possible result: forcing Google to spin off Chrome.
