The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch, in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday, for portions of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. In Kansas, the watch includes Atchison and Doniphan counties. In Missouri, the affected counties are Atchison, Holt, and Nodaway.

On Wednesday at 3:18 a.m. an updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 3:45 a.m. The warning is for Leavenworth, Platte, Atchison, Doniphan and Buchanan counties.

The severe threat to the northwest has diminished, but issues remain from the southwest to the eastern part of the Kansas City area on Wednesday morning.
