The command center for the 48 th NFL Draft, held April 26-27, 1983, was the Sheraton Hotel in New York City. The 12-round draft started at 8:03 a.m. on the 26 th and ended at 2 a.m. on the 27 th. In all, the draft took 17 hours, 57 minutes, including 3 hours, 17 minutes for the first round.
