The refunds follow a 2022 settlement in which Epic Games agreed to pay Fortnite players who fell victim to its "unlawful billing practices," according to the FTC.

This is part of a settlement reached in December 2022, with Epic ordered to pay more than half a billion dollars to settle charges from the FTC.
