Kyle Shanahan just finished his fourth double-digit-loss season in eight years. And now Fox Sports 1 Analyst Emmanuel Acho thinks Shanahan is on the hot seat.

The 49ers’ inability to close out three NFC West games still had Shanahan steaming after the season. They coughed up fourth-quarter leads in losses to the L.A. Rams (Weeks 3 and 15), the Cardinals in Week 5, and the Seahawks on Nov. 17.

The 49ers just made an interesting change to their offensive coaching staff. They promoted assistant passing game specialist Klay Kubiak to offensive coordinator. It's unclear how Kubiak's job will change.

The 49ers are hoping to keep Sorensen around on Kyle Shanahan's staff in a lesser role, just not as the defensive play-caller. Sorensen has spent the last three years in the organization, holding titles of defensive assistant, defensive passing game coordinator and nickelback coach before being named defensive coordinator prior to last season.

The 49ers defensive scheme is somewhat outdated. They're still running the same defensive scheme that the Seahawks ran 10 years ago under head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks don't even run this scheme anymore.

The San Francisco 49ers aren't wasting time when it comes to finding a new defensive coordinator. On Tuesday night, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reported that Nick Sorensen will not return to the 49ers next season as their defensive coordinator.
