Lindsey Vonn took it easier in downhill training a day after crashing for the first time of her World Cup comeback at age 40.

The U.S. ski legend finished more than three seconds behind Sofia Goggia’s time after taking a cautious approach down the Olympia delle Tofane course on Friday.

CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Lindsey Vonn fell toward the end of a World Cup downhill training run on Thursday and appeared slightly banged up. Vonn got back up and skied to the finish area on the Olympia delle Tofane course that will host next year’s Milan-Cortina Olympics but then went inside a medical tent for treatment.

Lindsey Vonn said she is “good” and has only a few bruises after falling toward the end of a World Cup downhill training run on Thursday. The protective air bag that most downhill skiers wear inflated under Vonn's racing suit to help soften her fall.

Vonn will race at Cortina this weekend, the site of some of her greatest successes. Can she recapture the magic?
