A pomp-filled state funeral for the 39th president brought together all five living presidents and featured a eulogy from President Biden.
Following the D.C. service and flight to Georgia, Carter’s body will be driven to his hometown of Plains for a private funeral and a procession through downtown Plains, according to organizers. Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981, will then be buried next to his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, who died in November 2023.
