"Acquiring this land will allow the project to move forward and ensure our Great Lakes are protected for generations to come," said U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

Construction will begin at a dam within Staunton State Park in June and is expected to continue into October with minimal impacts to visitors during the weekends.
