All of the houses for sale in York newly listed on Rightmove in 2023 (excluding apartments) are priced at £200,000 or above. These four, all under £250,000, were the cheapest.

Since March 2020, when the coronavirus lockdowns started in the UK, average house prices in York had risen by 41.9% or £109,457, the figures collated by the Halifax showed.

Prices soared by almost a quarter in York rising 23.1 per cent to £370,639 from £300,991 in 2021, according to Halifax. Leicester, in comparison, has seen a 3.6 per cent drop in property prices.
