A celebration of the next generation of talented and innovative storytellers from around the globe, the student awards are a chance to showcase your work to the industry.

As one of BAFTA’s most global initiatives, 2024’s 15 Yugo Student Award finalists were selected from over 800 submissions by students from schools in 37 countries. The winners were announced on Friday, 12 July, at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles at a special event hosted by Elliot Knight.

LOS ANGELES, CA – July 12, 2024 – Tonight, BAFTA announced the winners of the 20th annual 2024 Yugo BAFTA Student Awards. The finalists, which include nine films, three games, and three immersive projects, were chosen from over 800 submissions by a jury of BAFTA members.

In 2017 the Student Film Award was split into three separate awards for three different categories of film: Animation, Live Action, and Documentary. In 2021, the competition was expanded with the addition of two new awards to recognise games and immersive experiences .

Jul 15, 2024 · The 2024 Yugo BAFTA Student Awards finale ceremony, hosted by The Boys actor Elliot Knight was held on Friday 12 July at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles and The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is excited to announce two of our student-made projects, There Was A Home and Dragfox, were named winners out of the five categories!

Ultimately, we will give five category awards: Live Action, Documentary and Animation, Games and Immersive. However, we allow submission in additional categories to ensure we are comparing similar types of films in the early rounds of selection.
