May 6, 2024 · Pump brake petal carefully 4-5 times, hold petal , open bleeder in jar through a hose. stop pumping with petal down tighten bleeder, repeat 3-5 times, top off fluid as you go and top off when you finish. Is this still in force with a '22 CR V ?? Thank you, Rich Fluid recommended by Honda is ? A good grade dot 3 or 4 fluid ?

You change it to prevent problems, most commonly corrosion on piston surfaces which make the system lose air tightness and cause jammed pistons. Brake fluid is extremely hygroscopic and suck in moisture from the environment, hence the frequent need for replacement.

Without getting too gross, would be like half filling a cup with sour, out of date milk, then topping it off with fresh milk.

Jan 24, 2024 · A bottle of brake fluid is $10 and is fairly easy to change. It takes a bit of time and is somewhat of hassle but the price they quoted sounds fairly decent... You might agree after you do it. An oil change for $84 isn't bad either, though cheaper DIY... As far as their fees: buyer beware. Know what's legal or pay up.

Oct 14, 2020 · The maintenance minder in the 4th gens didn't display brake fluid changes. However in you 4th gen manual it did tell you to replace the fluid every 3 years. Yes my vehicle popped up the brake fluid change at around 2 1/2 years.

And the first change should be three years from the date of manufacture, not the model year, or the date you bought the CR-V. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture out of the air. And water is more compressible than brake fluid.

Jul 18, 2019 · DOT 5 brake fluid is silicon based, while DOT 3, 4, confusingly DOT 5.1 are glycol based. DOT 5 is not compatible with the other brake fluids, and they can not be mixed. Unless your vehicle calls for DOT 5 brake fluid you should still change it every three years.
