MOUNT HOPE-The Mount Hope Theater, erected in the same location as the Royal, which burned recently, will open today. Owned by a syndicate known as the Oak Hill Theater Company, the new theater is considered one of the best equipped in the states.

The 800-seat Princess Playhouse opened in 1928 on the 1st floor of Mount Hope’s Masonic Temple. It was part of the J. Woodrow Thomas vaudeville circuit and also screened movies, it was soon renamed Princess Theatre.

The Mount Hope Theatre opened in 1947. It operated until at least the late 1980s. It has apparently been abandoned for many years. For more, see this website.
