
South African Air Force - Wikipedia
The South African Air Force (SAAF) is the air warfare branch of South African National Defence Force, with its headquarters in Pretoria. The South African Air Force was established on 1 February 1920. The Air Force saw service in World War II and the Korean War.

Mar 10, 2025 · A simple roundel merely based on that of the RAF and using the colours of the National flag adopted in 1928. During WW2 the SAAF used much the same variations as the RAF, again with an Orange centre - these were mostly RAF aircraft in any case and had the red centre merely overpainted.

The SAAF service flag incorporates the South African national flag on the top left, with the SAAF roundel on the bottom right. The new SANDF emblem incorporates a nine-pointed "Star" representing the warm sun of Africa and the nine provinces.
