Walter Launt Palmer (August 1, 1854 – April 16, 1932) was an American Impressionist painter. Palmer's father Erastus Dow Palmer was a prominent sculptor, and the family residence was frequented by his father's friends, notably Frederic Edwin Church. [1]

When Palmer was in his teens, he began his formal artistic training with portraitist Charles Elliot and famed landscape painter Frederic Church. The young artist’s work was first accepted for the National Academy of Design show in 1872, when he was only eighteen years old.
