This welder may not be for everyone. But certainly for non-professional welders this is an awesome option. Don't get me wrong, some pros may also love the small form factor and portability of this unit. I just feel that it is more directed to the DIY market, or the home garage type of user mostly due to the rated material thickness of 5/32. That all being said, it works great. Super easy set up, three plugs to connect, one power switch to flip, and one knob to turn and you are off to the races. There is a handy chart inside the lid that gives suggested settings. For my DIY type projects, this machine will work wonders.\n\nI do have a couple of nit-picky things about the set up that I don't like as much...but these are more personal preferences than actual problems or flaws. First, I had to have sat on the floor trying to get the three cables (power, ground, electrode) wound up in the top toolbox for 30 minutes. It took much patience, but it is possible...its just a very tight squeeze. And then there was no room for the 120v adapter. The toolbox was obviously designed to hold everything, and has a notch for the power line to come in, but it is just a tad undersized for me. If they had made it even an inch taller, it would be much easier to keep everything together. And this really only is an issue if you are like me and not going to need this permanently set up in your garage.\n\nThat leads me to the second nit-pick. Given that the cords don't all fit in the toolbox nicely, it would have been nice for the unit to include a velcro strap or some similar attachment for the rear to hold the power cord. An easy fix given that the welder has slots for the shoulder strap anyway...so a self provided velcro strap solved this issue.\n\nOverall, I have no major issues with the unit and love how well it has worked thus far. And coming from the Lincoln brand, I am sure it will last me for many many years.

Purchased THIS welder OVER 25 years ago and, STILL welds GREAT!!!\n\nI have had Trucks all my adult life and, heavy equipment too for a while. Never been a "wealthy" man so I have always bought used equipment and, fixed it myself! And, I can tell you first hand THIS Welder HAS the POWER to penetrate HEAVY Metal! Always be sure to clean ALL your surfaces! (ground too)\n\nThe Trick to getting it to Stick is PENETRATION!!\n\nThe ONLY other thing I can say is that I have never had any formal training as a welder but, I NEVER had ANY weld fail. NEVER! Again the trick is PENETRATION and, CLEAN your surfaces!\nThat being said, many "REAL" welders (like certified ones) have told me that IF I liked welding with THIS welder I should try the AC/DC version. They ALL say the DC welder works better and, is easier and, makes a nicer weld. Well after I returned to Pittsburgh from NC. I went to work for one of the local trucking companies and, they had an AC/DC version of this welder and, I used it many times and, I can NOT honestly tell you that I noticed any appreciable difference what so ever. Maybe it might have been a little easier to get the rod started. But, I never really had any trouble getting a rod started anyway.\n\nPlease DO NOT HESITATE for one second. THIS IS A GREAT WELDER! It has NEVER let me down!! NOT EVER!! 26 years atleast! And, I have NOT been nice to it either! Run it hard and, long and, under harsh conditions too! NEVER a problem. GREAT WELDER!

If you’re looking for a portable welder that can run on 120v, look no further! This thing blew me away; I wasn’t really expecting it to work as good as it does to be honest. Lincoln is a top name when it comes to welding & this product hasn’t let me down one bit. It’s a overall small package & very light for what it is. It only weighs around 20-25lbs. It comes with everything you need to stick weld, except for the sticks themselves. It is Tig capable, however you will need to buy a separate kit for that. The leads coming from the machine are just about 13ft long, so it gives you plenty of wiggle room depending on where outlets are for you. The leads themselves are very heavy duty also. Along with being able to hook it up to 120v, Lincoln includes an adapter to be able to plug it in to 230 also. There’s a small compartment on the top to store everything in, my only complaint is that is very tight getting everything in there; I feel they could’ve made it just slightly bigger. As soon as I got it I plugged it in & fired it right up to play around & weld some angle iron together. It works flawlessly. Other than the small compartment I have absolutely 0 complaints about this welder & would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for some more portable.

I like Lincoln Electric welders. They are a reliable company (and I went to their welding school!). This is a small and capable stick welder that can be converted to TIG with optional accessories, which is what I did. It does not have a gas valve in the chassis, so you need an adaptor for your TIG torch (essentially a tee fitting that lets gas in) and you need a TIG torch with a gas valve so you have a way to adjust gas flow. The controls are basic and on the front panel. It comes with a power cord meant for 230VAC (its a male NEMA 6-50P plug) and an adapter to use it on 120VAC along with a ground lead and the Stick holder (the ground lead and stick holder are shipped under the lid). The output specs are reduced if you run it on 230VAC. Instead of 225 Amps, you get between 65A (stick) to 95A (TIG) at 50% duty cycle.

I was surprised at how small this welder was when I pulled it out of the box. It has a small built-in storage compartment that holds the ground clamp and electrode holder but not much more. A carrying handle on top of the unit and its light weight allows it to be easily moved from job to job. It runs on 120 or 220 VAC and comes with a 220 to 120 adapter cord. I was using it plugged into a 20A 120VAC circuit and had no issues with small 6013 rod on a piece of angle. It’s super simple to operate and I had it up and running putting practice beads on a piece of scrap 10 minutes after unboxing. This welder is perfect for home projects or anything that needs a quick repair to get going again. Would definitely recommend.

My husband was absolutely thrilled with his new Lincoln Electric 225 Amp Stick/TIG Welder! He's already raving about how light it is at just 20 lbs, and the handy carrying strap makes it incredibly portable. The 13 ft cables are a huge convenience, and the included 230v to 120v adapter means he can use it with different power sources. We both think the built-in toolbox on top for storing cables is a brilliant touch. We already tried stick welding with some new rods, and it was seriously easy to use and worked great right out of the box! It's awesome that it also supports TIG welding for when he's ready for that.

Used this to get some light stick welds done via 120v outlet. Ran 6013 and it went better than I imagined it would. The settings are about as simple as you can get with a knob to control amps and a button to tell it if you are using stick or tig. It comes with Heavy duty leads (each one about ~10ft long) for Stick welding, and adapter to go from 230v to 120. The Main power cord is fixed to the unit which is understandable but for improvements I think I'd like to see a larger storage area in the top and a detachable power cable or atleast a way to have some cable management in or on the unit.

This is a no-frills welder that is more than capable for farm and home work. I haven't tried it on sheet metal yet but will soon. The stinger and ground clamp both seem to be high quality, and the machine produces a stable, repeatable arc. It's heavy to carry around (110lb) but not as bad as some people make it seem when it comes to using the handles. I bought it to weld mounting brackets to my pickup flatbed, as well as other automotive work.\r\n\r\nIt's a little high priced brand new as you can find them online for $150-$200 but sometimes it's nice to have new stuff.

I have been using this same basic welder model with some variation since 1952. I just replaced my old model after about twenty years of steady use. The 225 holds an even, steady amperage for smooth A/C welding. It is light enough that it can be easily moved around the shop and even at age 72 I can load it on and off a pickup bed. I have been in maintenance, repair and fabrication for sixty years and find the Lincoln 225 to be a reliable machine for any and all basic maintenance needs.

First impression was just how compact and portable it is. It'll work perfect for those jobs that cannot be brought inside the shop. I fired it right up and put it to work as soon as it arrived. Penetration is good and lays down a solid smooth bead. The only thing I would suggest to do differently is making the storage compartment a bit bigger. It's a task to wind up the leads and actually close the top. Overall it's well worth the money especially with the TIG capability.

I purchased this welder to repair thicker materials, and I wanted a welder that would penetrate thick metals so they would not break again at the weld. This welder exceeded my expectations and was very easy to use, the voltage settings are simple to set, this is an excellent welder if you are a beginner or have very little experience, the only down side is that the leads could be a little longer, other than that I was very satisfied with this purchase.

A little bit of rust is no problem. I can also cut metal with it; a little messy, but functional. \r\nThe product description also gave the exact 230V plug configuration that I needed in advance, so when it arrived I was able to plug it in and use it the same day.

The power range is huge and gives it more capability than my wire feed ( 90 amp- 120 volt). It would be nice to have it more portable, but I just put it on a small moving dolly and can move it around the garage well.
