With the extreme heat and humidity we’ve had in elk country lately the elk tend to head for cover pretty directly after sunrise. The thermal cover offered by Hemlocks and various Pines and Spruce species combined with fresh cold springs often found in the same areas act as Mother Natures air conditioner and provide some relief from the high temperatures.
