Mary Fields was the first African-American postal delivery woman. She emerged from slavery to become one of the Wild West's most impressive pioneers. 'Stagecoach' Mary carried a pistol and a rifle and knew how to use them. She was extremely tough and went on foot through extreme if her stagecoach broke down in the Montana wilderness.
